Lagos, August 21, 2009
Dana Airlines Limited, on Friday, took delivery of another Boeing MD83 aircraft bringing to four the total number of aircrafts in its fleet. The 140-seater capacity aircraft was received by officials of the airline at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 13:14hrs.
“We are delighted to add yet another aircraft to our fleet”, said Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, Chief Executive Officer of the airline. “With this new aircraft we will now be able to add additional flights on all routes and also extend our operations to other cities. At the moment, we operate 11 flights daily on the Lagos-Abuja-Lagos sector; 2 flights daily on Lagos-Enugu-Lagos sector; and 2 flights daily on the Lagos-Kano-Lagos sector, with daily connecting flights between Abuja and Kano. In a couple of weeks, we will commence operations to the city of Port-Harcourt.”
Mr. Hathiramani also assured passengers of the airline’s commitment to the highest safety standards. In an earlier statement, Mr. Hathiramani had said, “Dana Air has a technical partnership with Iberia and we adhere strictly to the maintenance schedule for our aircrafts as prescribed by the manufacturers and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. More detailed and scheduled checks are, however, carried out at the Iberia aircrafts maintenance facility in Madrid, Spain.”
Commenting on the airline’s offering for the Ramadan season, Mr. Hathiramani said, “Ramadan is one of the two major religious observances for our Muslim brethren. In acknowledgment of the holy month of fasting, Dana Air will be offering all Muslim passengers their in-flight meals in take-away packages made specifically for the season. This way, they can observe the daytime fasting and keep their meal until they are ready to break their fast.”
A subsidiary of Dana Group of Companies, Dana Airlines is Nigeria's first new world carrier, offering premium services at an affordable rate.
