DANA AIR COMMENCES FLIGHTS TO ENUGU; INTRODUCES LOWEST FARE
Lagos, May 2, 2009
Nigeria’s newest carrier, Dana Air, has commenced operations to the coal city of Enugu with an introductory fare of N13, 500, the lowest for a one-way ticket on the Lagos-Enugu-Lagos route.
The airline had its first commercial flight to Enugu on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 14:40hrs and organized a media launch with aviation journalists on Friday, May 1, 2009. According to Jacky Hathiramani, Chief Executive Officer of Dana Air, “We are delighted to commence scheduled operations to Enugu few weeks after we announced our plans in the media. We have taken time to ensure that all necessary infrastructure and personnel are in place, for a seamless operation.”
“We can assure business and leisure travelers to the coal city that we will offer them the best quality air transport services at the most attractive fares; our introductory fare of N13, 500 for a one way ticket is the lowest on the Lagos-Enugu-Lagos route”, Mr. Hathiramani added.
At present, Dana Air operates one flight daily to Enugu from its operational base at MMA2 Lagos at 14:40hrs, with a return flight at 16:20hrs. Mr. Tony Usidamen, Communications Manager for the airline, however disclosed that the flight frequency will increase in the next couple of weeks.
Since commencing operations in November 2008, Dana Air has grown to become a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s fledging aviation industry. The airline currently operates 10 flights daily on the Lagos-Abuja-Lagos route and, like Enugu, it plans to extend its operations to the cities of Kano and Port-Harcourt in the next couple of months.
Only recently, Dana Air was awarded ‘Best ICT-Driven Airline 2009’ at the Nigeria ICT Merit Award (NIMA) for its early deployment of ICT solutions in its operations, particularly its online booking and payment service.
A subsidiary of Dana Group of Companies, Dana Airlines is Nigeria's first new world carrier, offering premium services at an affordable rate.
